About
Who We Are
The Friends of the Library are volunteers who believe excellent public libraries are a needed resource for our community. Volunteers demonstrate this by
- Becoming members of the Friends of the Macon-Bibb County Library
- Donating their old books, money, and time for the benefit of the Macon-Bibb County public libraries
- Sorting, boxing, and pricing books donated for the Book Sale
- Organizing, staffing, and conducting the annual Book Sale
- Administering the Memorial Book and Memorial Trust Programs
- Working on developing programs to promote reading
Since 1966, when the Friends of the Library began in Macon with twelve members, our organization has donated well over a million dollars to the Macon-Bibb County Libraries. The Friends have provided many of the books, services, and numerous pieces of equipment our community now enjoys.
